Swoop announces the acquisition of Anycast Networks and DCSI

| May 4, 2020

Fixed Wireless infrastructure provider Swoop (previously Cirrus Communications) today announced the acquisition of Anycast Networks and DCSI. Swoop will acquire the Anycast and DCSI assets, employees and customer contracts.

“I am very excited to bring Anycast Networks national and international network together with Swoop’s Fixed Wireless access services. Combine this with the DCSI residential ISP business and Swoop now services the Wholesale, SMB and Residential data markets.” “I am also particularly excited to work with the founders of Anycast Networks, Jacob Carr and Tom Berryman, their innovative and exciting culture reminded me of the early days at Vocus.” James Spenceley – Executive Chairman, Swoop.

In support of Swoop’s strategy and ambitious targets for growth, the founders of Anycast Networks are excited to be part of Swoop, a new disruptive entrant to the telecommunications market. Swoop was formed when Cirrus Communications received investment from Andrew Forrest’s Minderoo and bought on Telco industry heavyweights James Spenceley and Tony Grist. This combination of highly experienced operators backed by one of Australia’s most successful businessman was too good an opportunity to go past for Anycast Networks.

“Last year we were approached a few times by companies looking to acquire Anycast, but we weren’t looking to sell. When James called though and took us through the Swoop vision we knew this was an amazing opportunity. We are super excited to join the Swoop family and can’t wait to shake the market up!” Tom Berryman – Founder & CEO Anycast Networks.

Anycast Networks offered an exciting opportunity for Swoop to expand their national and international fixed wireless network and Wholesale product offering in national and international ethernet services and IP Transit. Swoop are looking toward Wholesale cross sell opportunities as the union between the two companies takes place.

Post the integration, Swoop will go-to-market in three divisions Wholesale, SMB and Residential. As part of the acquisition Swoop will gain an Australian based call centre in Warragul, VIC.

“This acquisition is as much about bringing two teams of great people together as it is about the growth in the size of the business.” Alex West CEO, Swoop.

Looking toward the future, Swoop is excited that it now has the people, systems, network and know-how required to support its ambitious growth plans in Wholesale, SMB and Residential markets with a focus on remarkable people, culture and systems to deliver the best customer service in Australian telecommunications.
